In September 2007 Kenneth Vona Construction was a part of a remarkable home renovation for a local soldier, Sergeant Brian Fountaine. Homes For Our Troops is an organization based in Taunton, MA that fundraises and coordinates efforts for disabled veterans from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
On June 8, 2006 an improvised explosive device crippled Fountaine's Humvee leaving him physically handicapped. His legs were destroyed below the knees, forcing him out of combat and bound to a hospital bed. In June of 2007 Ken Vona Construction joined forces to build a bathroom in Sergeant Fountaine's home that provided ample space for wheelchair accessibility, grab bars and modified cabinets.
